How To Survive Life's Disasters

To survive
all of life's disasters,
ask yourself,
"Will this matter in a year?"
Through break ups,
layoffs,
even regrettable fashion choices,
just keep moving forward.
If you move backwards,
you're much more likely
to trip over things.
Believe in yourself,
know there is something inside you
greater than all of life's obstacles.
I have a giant gobstopper in my stomach.
If you fill your head
with worries and negativity,
there won't be room for anything else,
like unicorns
singing karaoke
and farting rainbows.
You're only human,
you don't have to have it together
every minute
of every day,
unless you're a cyborg.
Everybody walks into walls
once in a while.
Never lose sight of the fact
that being alive is fun,
like spinning around
until you fall over.
I choose to be filled with joy,
and bologna,
choose to wear crazy print pants,
and practice my silly walk
in public.
Tomorrow is a new day,
begin it with a spirit
that is too high
to be encumbered
with old nonsense.
