Deep Love

When we first met I was so naive,
You showed me a world most couldn't conceive,
You were there to help me understand,
You exposed me in ways I still can't believe.

You swept me away from the wasteland,
And did your best to show me firsthand,
A life that was simple and true,
And that the best things are unplanned.

Even though there were times we smelled like poo,
And we had to eat out of a dumpster or two,
I knew you were there to take care of me,
And that you were a man of virtue.

I know there are times when I'm ditzy,
Or occasionally a little bit cranky,
You might even say moody,
I hope you know, I love you deeply.
(For my husband, about the first several months we were together.)
